Movie Review: The Wackness

So, lucky me that I found a site that allows me to go see movie screenings for free. Yesterday was my first experience with the site and it went very well.

Now, let's talk about this movie The Wackness. The promotional type was word of mouth, so I'm just helping it along. I can honestly say that it was a great movie. Very original and raw. It was actually very funny and I found myself laughing on a large part of the movie. It had a strong storyline, the actors chosen fit their character and it had a quirkiness that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was really surprised with Olivia Thirlby, she plays the step-daughter, and her very natural and believable acting. I hope she comes out in more movies because she was really great. Ben Kingsley was hilarious in this and his character was definitely my favorite.

Personally, I didn't really relate with a huge part of the movie, but at the same time I did. It brings back a lot of memories from the 90's though. Some actors they failed to mention below are Method Man, Mary-Kate Olsen and Famke Janssen.

Bottom Line, I say go see The Wackness. You won't be disappointed.

A few movie reviews...

Since I've been feeling icky sick these last few days, all I've been doing is watch movies on HBO OnDemand. So, here are a few movies with short reviews that I have seen.

Knocked Up - I really enjoyed this movie. It made me want a kid for a whole hour, but then it came to the labor scene and that totally killed it for me. So, no kids for me for now. The movie was funny and I do recommend it.

Evan Almighty - I thought this movie was good. It wasn't great, but I think it's a good family movie. It didn't have any graphic scenes and it had a pleasant ending.

Ocean's 13 - All the men were sexy in their own ways. Totally dig the whole Vegas scene, especially when you spice it up with an interesting payback. I think it was a good addition to the other two movies.

Surf's Up - This movie was so cute. It was supposed to be like a documentary, or like they call it in the movie, a mockumentry. So cute!

Black Snake Moan - Weird, but interesting. I got to see Cristina Ricci's boobs a whole lot more than I would have liked to, but overall it was a pretty good movie. I'm glad I didn't pay to see it in the movies though.

I know most of you have seen this clip of Bill O'Reilly when he was on Inside Edition and he flips out, but it doesn't make it any less funny. I listen to Y100 every morning and they always play a sound clip of this, which is, "We'll do it live. Don't write it and we'll do it live." Awesome!

Encore Movie Review: The Holiday

Lately, I am obsessed with The Holiday. There is just something about this movie that I am attracted to. I don't know if it might be that Jude Law looks totally hot in this movie, of it's just that it's such a cute movie. Ladies, I suggest you pick this movie up and watch it with your guy. Guys, watch this movie with your lady 'cause you just might get lucky right after watching it. She will be mush in your arms (ha, ha).

Go get this movie or rent it or watch it on Encore. They have been playing it repeatedly. Go watch it!

Book Review: Undead and Uneasy by MaryJanice Davidson

Last week I finished reading Undead and Uneasy, the sixth book from the Queen Betsy Series written by MaryJanice Davidson. Very cool things happened in this book. Betsy totally kicked ass and I think this book was excellent and creative. I think all the other books were leading to a very cool, fresh and imaginative book, such as this one. If you've been following the series, then you will not be disappointed with this one. Definitely pick this one up.

Movie Review: Sex and the City

Last week, I went out with one of my best friends and we had a girls night. We went to eat at yummy Sweet Tomatoes (if you've never been there, please make time to go there one day) and then went to go see Sex in the City. Let me tell you, I thought I wasn't going to be able to follow the movie, since I never saw the series, but I totally understood what was happening from the very beginning and I really enjoyed it. It was a very feel good movie and it made me appreciate the friends I have so much more. Therefore, I must say that you will not be disappointed if you do go; and make sure you take a few friends. Guys, if you're getting dragged into seeing the movie, let me tell you that there is something even for you. Let's just say some scenes are hot and heavy.

I give this move an A+...go see it!

Quick Note: I have seen maybe two or three episodes of Sex and the City, so even if you are not a fan, I wanted you to know that I am reviewing the movie as a I would any movie.

50th Post!!!! Oh, how time passes!

WOW...I can't believe this is already the 50th post. It feels like just yesterday I started writing again. So, I wanted to give a summary of everything that's been going on since I started writing that I haven't kept you up-to-date with. So here we go!

1. David Cook won American Idol. (So happy he won!)

2. Kristi Yamaguchi won Dancing With the Stars. (Not a shocker)

3. House's finale episodes were amazing! If you haven't seen them, you have to check them out. Thanks to my good friend, the pompomist, who introduced me to http://www.hulu.com/, I now know where I can catch up on any series.

4. They are bringing back some great shows in the fall (Private Practice, Dirty Sexy Money, and many more that I can't think of right now).


5. Most of the finale's I saw were really great and entertaining. Since there are so many I just wanted you to know that most of them were great. :)


Ok...that was TV. Now for Books...


1. As you have seen in previous posts, I have read almost all the books from the Queen Betsy Series written by MaryJanice Davidson. So far that has been the only series I have read since I started writing, so there will be future ones for other books.


As far as Movies go...


1. I think I've only reviewed 2 movies, so I'm not going to go into specifics right now. Once I start to see movies again, I will be sure to keep you updated. I am actually going to be writing one soon.


For the Gaming world...



1. I have told you that The Sims 3 is coming out, hopefully next year.




2. I totally forgot to mention that we bought the new GTA. Totally cool and fun as most of the others.


3. I'm still rocking on Rock Band. I am actually purchasing the one for the Wii, which will be coming out later this month.

Work, Work, Work...

1. We still have the nastiest critters there. Still have termites, roaches and all the other nasty bugs.

How about a little fun...

1. I did have a few jokes on there too. Hope you guys enjoyed them.

Book Review: Undead and Unpopular by MaryJanice Davidson

Last weekend I finished reading Undead and Unpopular, the fifth book from the Queen Betsy Series written by MaryJanice Davidson. This book was easy reading and was extremely entertaining. It wasn't as complicated as most of Davidson's other Undead books from the series. Although, I thought she would finally have Betsy and Sinclair married in this book, Davidson dragged it again into the next one, but it's a good thing I bought the whole series at the time I did. I don't think I could have waited until the next book was written, so it's great that I didn't find out about the series until later on when finally she does get them married. So, overall, I think this is a good addition. It still has the quirkiness that Davidson does such a good job at. I say, pick this one up, especially if you've already started reading the series.

DVD Movie Review: National Treasure 2 - Book of Secrets

On Monday, my dad and I saw National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. The funny thing is I didn't think I was going to enjoy it, but I actually did. I was laughing throughout the whole movie and it really caught my full attention. My favorite character is Riley (the comic relief). I wish I would have seen it on the big screen, but overall I enjoyed it. I wish it would have been longer, but for sure we are getting another movie and I think it's going to be very clever.

While Ben is presenting new information about John Wilkes Booth and the 18 pages missing from Booth's diary, one man stands up and presents a missing page of John Wilkes Booth's diary. Book Review: Dead and Loving It by MaryJanice Davidson

This week I finished reading Dead and Loving It by MaryJanice Davidson. It had some really great short stories and I really enjoyed them. There were some very provacotive parts to them, but nothing extremely raunchy. I think whoever reads this book will really love it. One thing I really like is that the chapters were short, which made it easier for making me want to keep reading. I was sad that I had actually finished it. Oh well, I have my other series waiting on me.

As I said in the last book review, I don't like to read one book knowing that there was another book I needed to read, and I'm really glad it happened that way. Anyway, I hope you guys will pick this one up.

Memorial Day Weekend!

As we all know this past weekend was Memorial Day Weekend. I spent it with my family at my beautiful home that I wish I was at right now. Oh well. My dad came up with us on Friday, so he got pulled into helping us with the cleaning on Saturday. On Sunday was my mom's birthday and she came up with my sister. I spent most of the time playing the Wii with my nephew, then that night there was a Barbecue next door, but it was boring as hell, so I went back to playing the Wii. Monday we just chilled and watched a movie, which I will be doing a review of. So that was basically it. Nothing too exciting. :)

Book Review: Undead and Unreturnable by MaryJanice Davidson!

Earlier this week, I finished reading Undead and Unreturnable the fourth book from the Queen Betsy Series written by MaryJanice Davidson. This book dragged a little bit. Not that I didn't enjoy the spunk from Davidson's writing, but I didn't really enjoy it as much as the last one. She did introduce a new character, which I think will bring a comedy relief to her upcoming books. Overall, it was a good book and it was a good addition to her series.

What we have at work...

Everyday at work I always have some interesting critter nearby. Most recently it is the roach in the lights above me (see picture below). Not to mention the termite wings that land on my desk every once in a while. It is disgusting. Well...we also have the men's room full of dead roaches. Ewww! Let's not even mention the screeching from the machines in the shop and the consistency of people coming in and out from the door next to my desk. Ahhh...Frustrating. Just wanted to share the work horrors!

How to Shower...

I received this email last week and thought it was hilarious, so I wanted to share it with all of you.

Part 1: HOW TO SHOWER LIKE A WOMAN:
*Take off clothing and place it in sectioned laundry hamper according to lights and darks.Walk to bathroom wearing long dressing gown. If you see husband along the way, cover up any exposed areas.
*Look at your womanly physique in the mirror.
* Make mental note to do more sit-ups/leg-lifts, etc.
*Get in the shower. Use face cloth, arm cloth, leg cloth, long loofah, wide loofah and pumice stone.
*Wash your hair once with cucumber and sage shampoo with 43 added vitamins.
*Wash your hair again to make sure it's clean.
*Condition your hair with grapefruit mint conditioner.
*Wash your face with crushed apricot facial scrub for10 minutes until red.
*Wash entire rest of body with ginger nut and jaffacake body wash.
*Rinse conditioner off hair.
*Shave armpits and legs.
*Turn off shower.
*Squeegee off all wet surfaces in shower.
*Spray mold spots with Tilex.
*Get out of shower.
*Dry with towel the size of a small country.
*Wrap hair in super absorbent towel.
*Return to bedroom wearing long dressing gown and towel on head. If you see husband along the way, cover up any exposed areas.
Part 2: HOW TO SHOWER LIKE A MAN:
*Take off clothes while sitting on the edge of the bed and leave them in a pile.
*Walk naked to the bathroom. If you see wife along the way, shake wiener at her while making the woo-woo sound.
*Look at your manly physique in the mirror.
*Admire the size of your wiener and scratch your ass.
*Get in the shower.
*Wash your face.
*Wash your armpits.
*Blow your nose in your hands and let the water rinse the snot off.
*Fart and laugh at how loud it sounds in the shower.
*Spend majority of time washing privates and surrounding area.
*Wash your butt, leaving those coarse butt hairs stuck on the soap.
*Wash your hair. Make a shampoo Mohawk.
*Pee.
*Rinse off and get out of shower.
*Partially dry off.
*Fail to notice water on floor because the curtain was hanging out of tub the whole time.
*Admire wiener size in mirror again.
*Leave shower curtain open, wet mat on floor, light and fan on.
*Return to bedroom with towel around waist .
*If you pass wife, pull off towel, shake wiener at her and make the woo-woo sound again.
*Throw wet towel on her pillow.

Book Review: Undead and Unappreciated by MaryJanice Davidson!

This week I finished reading Undead and Unappreciated the third book from the Queen Betsy Series written by MaryJanice Davidson. I actually really loved this one. There was something highly entertaining and charming about this one that the last one didn't have. I felt that I didn't want put it down, so I finished it very quickly. I think Davidson was very creative in her writing with some new twists for her series.

Book Review: Undead and Unemployed by MaryJanice Davidson!

On Saturday, I finished reading Undead and Unemployed the second book from the Queen Betsy Series written by MaryJanice Davidson. Like her last book, I really enjoyed reading the originality for each of her characters. For those of you who don't have a lot of time and want to read a short, fun book, then this is definitely for you. Though, I'm not sure if it was short because I was reading it all the time, or if it is just a short book, but I found it to be enjoyable.

Its a few months since Betsy Taylor was made Queen of the Vampires and although she might be Queen there is no money to go with the title. Her house has termites and it has been condemned and she’s been unemployed ever since the day she died.
